The artist is Vakhramev
Vakhramev’s work was distinguished by a burning interest in modern political life. His legacy includes numerous picturesque and graphic sketches, which were performed literally in hot pursuit and were associated with the events of three Russian revolutions. One of these works is the painting “Burn Orlov”. It was written according to fresh impressions of the scene seen by the artist in the days of the February Revolution in the courtyard of the Palace of Beloselsky Belozers, where the heated crowd burned the hated symbols of the old government – royal coats of arms and portraits. Today this work can be considered as a reliable document of the era, drawing the “meaningless and merciless” element of the “Russian riot”. (P. TO., A. N.)
